PICKERING’S Next Steps outreach group is changing and is on the move.
From Wednesday, August 27, the group, which provides support, activities and promotes a positive approach to mental health, will meet in the Beckett Room at the Memorial Hall, Potter Hill, Pickering, from 10am to noon. Bridget Robinson-Clark, who has recently taken over as group leader, said she saw the change in venue as positive.
“We felt a real shake-up was needed and the Memorial Hall is accessible and central,” she said.
“We are working hard to devise an exciting programme of activities which we hope will encourage new people along.”
There will still be time for coffee and a chat between 10am and 10.30am, but then there would be planned activities. “So far ideas include art tuition, fitness, walking, speakers, trips, music and an emphasis on having fun, feeling supported and making new friends,” she said.
“The group offers a friendly, non-judgemental welcome to all who are affected directly or in-directly by mental health issues and we hope people will get involved.” Phone 01751 476804.
