ALMOST 200 homes could be built through a pilot scheme between a North Yorkshire council and the Ministry of Defence to sell land to developers if plans are approved this week.
Three separate planning applications for housing schemes at Catterick Garrison will be debated by Richmondshire District Council’s planning committee on Tuesday, with the schemes brought forward by the authority as part of the Government’s public land auction project which aims to release surplus public sector land for development.
All the sites are owned by the MoD, and the largest scheme would see 130 homes between the garrison and Colburn despite claims the main road in the area is already congested because of other housing developments.
