A MALTON teenager has successfully completed his Royal Marines training. George Everitt was formally awarded his Green Beret at a passing-out parade held at the Commando Training Centre, Lympstone, in Devon.
The 19-year-old has lived in the Malton area all of his life. George is a former pupil of Terrington Primary School, who then went on to Malton School, where he completed his A-levels before commencing his Royal Marine training.
A keen sportsman, George played junior rugby for Malton and Norton, football for Brooklyn and enjoys surfing. Royal Marine training is32 weeks and its gruelling nature makes it one of the longest and hardest military training courses in NATO.
George has been posted to 40 Commando based in Taunton and is looking forward to his first operational deployment.
