TOWN councillors in Helmsley will ask the county council to pay towards the cost of settling a wrangle over a public right of way.
The council was told that while North Yorkshire County Council had recommended approval of the route from Pottergate to Bridge Street, because there had been an objection the matter had to go to Communities Secretary Eric Pickles for a decision.
Council chairman Chris Parkin said the council will ask the county council if it could contribute towards the legal process of establishing the right of way to speed up the process.
