POLICE searching for a missing taxi driver have found a body.

Peter Maltby went missing after leaving his home in Northallerton on Saturday heading to work in Thirsk.

The 59-year-old was last seen at around 9.30pm on Saturday in his silver Ford taxi driving north on the A19 near the Tontine and police launched a search.

However, shortly before 7pm on Sunday night a member of the public found a taxi in a ditch at the side of the road in Ingleby Cross.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene and Mr Maltby’s family have been informed of the discovery.
