A MOBILE police station will take up residence in Easingwold market place over the summer.

A scheme to take police services into the centre of local towns started in Easingwold on Friday, April 25 and will see a PCSO and an civilian police worker in the mobile police office each market day until October.

They will be able to take reports of incidents, give general crime prevention advice, and give guidance about things like Rural Watch and Neighbourhood Watch schemes.

Head of Local Policing, Temporary Chief Superintendent Lisa Winward, said: "Within the first hour of opening at Easingwold market on Friday , there was already a steady stream of visitors who were able to obtain advice and guidance on the spot."

The project is also at work in Settle on Tuesday market days and there are plans to bring it to Helmsley in the coming months.
