AN ART charity based in Thirsk have thanked their local community for their support.

Rural Arts runs a weekly art club every Saturday for young people between five and 18-years-old and are looking for old toys to make two life-size cyclists on life-size bikes to tie in with the celebrations for the Tour de France Grand Depart, which will be displayed in the garden of The Courthouse.

Hannah Stroud, Outreach Assistant at Rural Arts commented: “We are overwhelmed by the help and support that the local community continues to offer us for our workshops and projects.

"From our regular volunteers lending a hand to local businesses providing materials – everyone has been incredibly generous and it really does make a difference to our work. People often come to us with craft materials they no longer need – we can put them to good use!”

Local businesses GSM Graphic Arts and Madeira Threads who have donated materials to help assist with recent projects, and anyone who wants to find out more about the project should email hannah@ruralarts.org or phone Hannah on 01845 526536.

Old plastic toys can be donated at The Courthouse foyer until May 10.
