A 90-YEAR-OLD man was seriously injured and several other people suffered lesser injuries in a minibus crash in North Yorkshire.

The accident happened at about 7.40pm last night at the cross roads between the A172 and the road leading out of Ingleby Cross near Northallerton.

"A red Hyundai Getz which was travelling out of the village of Ingleby Cross, collided with a white mini-bus which was travelling along the A172 towards Stokesley," said a spokeswoman for North Yorkshire Police.

"The driver of the Hyundai, a man in his sixties from Essex and two passengers including a woman in her fifties, also from Essex, and a 90-year-old man, were all taken to James Cook Hospital but the driver and woman passenger were released after treatment. However, the 90-year-old man remains in hospital with serious injuries."

She said two 15-year-old boys from Middlesbrough who were travelling in the mini-bus were treated for whiplash.

The driver of the mini-bus, from the Saltburn area, and about 20 other passengers on the bus were physically uninjured but shaken up by the collision.
