Hotel near Whitby gets go ahead

PLANS for 46 luxury cottages and an education centre at a new hotel development near Whitby have been approved.

Scarborough Borough Council granted the plans for Raithwaite Country Retreat, which were designed by architect Brewster Bye and will enable local schools and organisations to learn about the wildlife and natural habitat on the estate.

Paul Ellis, managing director of developers Skelwith Leisure, said: “The new cottages will complement the existing hotel and also the Keep building that will open next spring. The approval will allow us to offer a wide range of accommodation throughout the Raithwaite Estate and help to provide an economic boost for Sandsend, Whitby and beyond.”
