9:41am Friday 19th October 2012 in News
CRIME in North Yorkshire and York has fallen by ten per cent in a year, with 4,334 fewer victims, according to new statistics.
Figures from the Office of National Statistics show in the 12 months to June, the region saw 945 fewer victims of violence, 53 fewer sex offences, 48 fewer robberies and 673 fewer burglaries than in the previous 12 months.
Other thefts fell by 1,508, vehicle crime dropped by 22 and there were 900 fewer criminal damage offences.
The Crime Survey said 66.1 per cent of people surveyed felt North Yorkshire Police was dealing with local concerns. Temporary Chief Constable Tim Madgwick called the figures “very satisfying”.
