Galtres Festival in line for clutch of awards

A VIDEO about the Galtres Festival has been produced to encourage fans to vote for it in the Festival Awards.

Galtres Festival, which attracts 7,000 people to Crayke for three days over the August bank holiday weekend, has been shortlisted for Best Small Festival and Best Family Festival.

The video, produced by York media agency The Creative Condition, aims to share the positive impact of the Galtres festival.

The festival, which is in its eighth year, has also been nominated Promoter of the Year and The ExtraFestival Activity Award, which will be decided by a panel of judges, rather than voted for by the public.

The Promoter nomination recognises improvements which James Houston and the team behind Galtres introduced in 2012, including weather contingency measures, stewarding and security, crew and volunteers. The Extra-Festival nomination is for its Dragons and Knights-themed activities based in the medieval village, which included jousting and the dragon ball, which can be seen in the online video.

James said: “The quality of this year’s event means we have a really good chance of winning, but only will if everyone who came casts their vote.”

Vote online at festivalawards.com/vote before October 31.
