PERCY and Dot Moncaster were celebrating their diamond wedding today.

They met in 1948 while working at Highthorne Farm, Husthwaite, and they were they married at Husthwaite church in 1952.

The couple lived in Husthwaite for many years. Percy was an active member of the local parish council for more than 20 years and is still actively involved with the local history group.

They have two sons, David and Peter, and and six grandchildren. Dot worked for most of her married life as a carer looking after elderly people at Tanpit Lodge residential home in Easingwold, then as a personal carer in the private sector. Recently, they attended a blessing service at Ripon Cathedral as part of the Queen’s jubilee celebrations.
