Helmsley & District Rotary Club has returned to the hotel where it was formed.

The club first met at The Feathers Hotel in Helmsley in its formation year and continued after receiving its charter in February 2005, which was granted on the 100th anniversary of Rotary International.

Club admin officer David Ward said: “We were happy at The Feathers but we had to move when the hotel needed to introduce a major refurbishment and that’s when we went to the King’s Head at Kirkbymoorside.

“It was a surprise when the King’s Head closed and members were grateful when the Plough at Wombleton gave us a temporary home.

“The Feathers can offer better facilities for our needs and we now hope to expand our membership base.”

Mr Ward said the club had male and female members in Helmsley, Kirkbymoorside and surrounding villages.

“This modern, friendly club has few formalities and regularly invites guest speakers from a wide range of backgrounds to talk and share their knowledge,” he said.

“Members support local causes and international projects.”
