STUDENTS and teachers from Sri Lanka have spent a week in the area as part on an ongoing project.

A partnership between Norton College and St Mary’s School in the Hambantota region in southern Sri Lanka was set up in 2007.

Since then, visits have been made between the two schools with students from Norton visiting the area for the first time last year.

Assistant headteacher Teresa Huntley said the partnership, which is supported by the British Council, enabled pupils and teachers to share ideas and projects.

“The work we have done has involved all aspects of the curriculum, including science, geography and history,” she said.

“They really enjoyed themselves and said it had been absolutely wonderful. Everyone at Norton College loved having them here and being able to spend time working together.”
