Joint effort to get Ryedale cycling

A SCHEME to encourage cycling has been created by Ryedale District Council with Big Bear Cycles of Pickering.

Coun James Fraser, (Con), said the idea is to encourage indoor cycling, using experienced instructors, so people could take-up cycling and learn basic techniques before venturing onto public roads.

• The council’s current agreement with Community Leisure Ltd, which runs the authority’s leisure complexes and swimming pools in Norton and Pickering, expires in September 2014. Councillors would be discussing procurement of the service before then.

“In the meantime, the council will maintain a close dialogue with CLL,” Coun Fraser added.
