North York Moors National Park Authority scoops regional apprenticeship award

THE North York Moors National Park Authority has been named Yorkshire and the Humber’s best medium employer in the regional final of the National Apprenticeship Awards.
The authority employs 17 apprentices and Andy Wilson, the authority’s chief executive, said a further five were supported on the National Park’s hill farms.
The authority had trained more than 50 apprentices in the past 10 years in environmental conservation, accounting and business administration.
He said: “We are delighted with this award. It is brilliant to have apprentices because we need enthusiastic young people both in our offices and out in the park.
“They bring new ideas, we learn from them just as they learn from us and they have lots of IT skills. They are a new generation and all businesses need them.”
Sue Price, divisional area director of the National Apprenticeship Service, said: “This is a superb achievement by the National Park. The awards are a testament to the many benefits apprenticeships and training bring to businesses, allowing employers to tap into new raw talent.”
The national winners will be announced on November 14.
