Dan Farrall of The Jolly Farmers pub, Leavening, prepares for their five-day beer festival
A VILLAGE pub is holding a five-day ‘battle of the beers’ this week.
The Jolly Farmers, in Leavening, will be hosting a selection of 20 real ales and ciders as part of the festival which has a theme of the Battle of Britain.
Chef proprietor Dan Farrall said they would be pitching beers sourced from breweries within a 25-mile radius of Leavening against beers from further afield.
He said: “We offer a broad selection of beers to suit all tastes and with different strengths, from near and afar.
“Our last beer festival was a huge success with a really fun atmosphere over the whole weekend.”
Dan added there would also be live music from local bands and a hog roast on the Friday and Saturday evenings.
“We have also been broadening our appeal by hosting the monthly Leavening Community Cinema, a non-profit making group which usually shows a film on the first Tuesday of each month,” he said.
“Here at the Jolly Farmers we are aiming to continue to build the pub’s popularity by introducing a number of new initiatives to tempt new and existing customers through the door.
“We have a simple philosophy of producing high quality, locally sourced food and its one that is working really well for us.”
The Beer Festival will be held from today (Wednesday) to Sunday, October 21.
