13 vehicles damaged on A1

THIRTEEN cars and lorries were damaged after a large goods vehicle shed debris on to the A1 in North Yorkshire.

Police are trying to trace the driver of the goods vehicle which did not stop at the scene of the incident, at about 7pm on Tuesday on the northbound carriage at Londonderry, near Bedale.

North Yorkshire Police Traffic Constable Tony Leonard said: “Thankfully, despite the large amount of damage that was caused to the vehicles, no-one was injured as a result of the incident. However, I do need to speak to the driver of the vehicle which shed the debris on to the road. I urge anyone who can help to identify them to come forward straight away. I am also appealing to the driver of the vehicle to contact the police as they may be unaware of the incident.”
