Boys allowed at fit fundraiser

A FITNESS instructor is organising a series of fun events to support two cancer charities.
Wendy Harding has been supporting Pink Ribbon for Breast Cancer with sponsored aerobic sessions for 10 years, and more recently has given the events an added ‘blue’ theme with half the funds raised donated to Prostate Cancer.
As part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Wendy said she was hoping for an Olympic-style event this year to support the two charities.
“This is my 10th anniversary of fitness fundraising and I’d like it to be a big party as a few weeks later I will be hit the big 5-0,” she said.
“You don’t have to be super-fit to join in and everyone enjoys the session and has a bit of fun.”
Wendy said she had decided to start organing the fitness events after losing a dear friend to breast cancer at the age of just 43.
“It has been my way of giving back a bit,” she said.
“I am always delighted that we constantly get a good crowd, creating a real buzz for the event and great support for such an important cause.”
This year, Wendy has included a Pink Pilates class to suit those who prefer a gentler way to keeping fit.
“I love teaching these events and the best bit is giving everyone a goodie bag at the end for working so hard for a great cause,” she added.
The two-hour fitness fundraiser will be held at Malton Community Sports Centre on Saturday, October 6 starting at 10.30am.
Wendy will also be holding Pink Pilates classes on October 9 at the sports centre and Cedar Barn Farm Shop and Café, Pickering and again on October 10 at the farm shop.
