Norton College has appointed its new head pupils.

Dom Weatherill and Hope Lavery were among 19 Year 11 students who applied for the roles of head boy and head girl.

Each pupil had to complete a job application form and go through a formal interview with headteacher Phil Loftus, a governor and senior team leader, Gemma Williams.

Ms Williams said both Dom and Hope had interviewed very well and were appointed as a result of their enthusiasm and dedication to Norton College.

She said: “With head girl and boy taking the lead, a senior student team has been set up and already they have arranged for suggestion boxes to be posted around school, a vehicle for pupils to express ideas and concerns.

“Dom and Hope have made an excellent start to the term and have led assemblies for each year group. They are proving to be fantastic role models and will represent students extremely well.”

Mr Loftus said: “This year Dom and Hope lead a large team and have already had an impact. In their distinctive ties, the leadership team are the leaders of the college’s student voice. The senior team plans to represent the views of the students to myself on a regular basis.”
