STAFF at Thomas The Baker have greeted this trainee guide dog puppy – who has been named after the popular North Yorkshire bakery in honour of its fundraising efforts for The Guide Dogs For The Blind Association.
Nine-month-old Thomas is currently training with his volunteer puppy walker to equip him with the necessary skills to aid a blind or partially sighted owner.
Each guide dog costs more than £5,000 to breed, walk and train and the charity receives no Government founding and relies entirely on public support, Staff at the Helmsley branch of Thomas’s last year raised more than £7,500 for the charity through a host of fundraising activities.
Managing director John Thomas said: “The charity provides such a valuable service and I feel honoured we have been able to contribute to this.
“What a great honour to have a guide dog puppy named after us and to be able to see his progress.”
