Positive response to waste transfer site in Kirby Misperton
3:41pm Wednesday 19th September 2012 in News
COUNCIL officers have reported a ‘positive’ reaction to plans for a waste transfer station in Kirby Misperton following a public ‘drop-in’ session on Friday.
The station will allow waste to be “bulked up” before being transported to recycling, treatment, and disposal facilities. It is designed to come into operation when a contract with Knapton landfill site finishes in 2015.
Tony Norris, waste services manager, said 18 people had attended, including residents and parish council members.
He said: “We were really pleased with the response and the opportunity to go through the proposals and answer any questions people had.
“The station is in the middle of Ryedale and will enable a more efficient and economic way of transferring waste.”
Mr Norris said that as part of the proposal, access to the site would be looked at, including improvement works to the A169 junction.
“The session was very positive and we were able to take on board feedback from residents which will enable our planners to address their concerns,” he added.
