THE sun shone for Slingsby’s 39th annual produce show on Saturday.
Although entries were slightly down, due to the poor summer weather, there was a lot of support from villagers and visitors.
Show president and chairman Trudy Carr said the show was open to residents living in Slingsby, Fryton and South Holme.
“The show went very well considering the growing season we have had,” she said.
“A lot of new people have moved to the area and it was good to see some of them entering the show and in some cases winning a trophy,” she added.
Trudy said that 18 cups and shields had been presented, including a memorial shield in memory of Raymond ‘Bunny’ Ware, one of the show’s oldest committee members who died last year.
She said: “Next year is our 40th show, so we hope to do something special for that. The show is a great village tradition and important to keep it going.”
