Another setback for Low Marishes pub scheme

PLANS to revamp the site of a Ryedale village pub which has been at the centre of a lengthy planning saga have hit a setback.

Three previous applications surrounding the School House Inn in Low Marishes, near Malton , have been turned down by Ryedale District Council, most recently in April when a scheme to convert the site into a “micro-pub” alongside a three-bedroom house were rejected.

The owners, Matthew and Sarah Richardson, subsequently handed in a new scheme which would retain the pub and see five letting bedrooms for holidaymakers built, as well as a three-bedroom property.

The application was recommended for approval when the council’s planning committee met last month, but “outstanding difficulties” have caused a delay over a final decision.

A report on the scheme which will go before the planning committee, next week, said planning officers were now waiting for the Richardsons’ agents to suggest “an appropriate way forward” before a decision can be made.
