21-home proposal in Nawton set for go-ahead

THE final go-ahead could be given for 21 new homes to be built on the edge of a village.

Developers Ambleside Homes is set to see its proposals for the properties on a patch of farmland next to Station Road in Nawton rubber-stamped by councillors.

The firm behind the project said it will contribute towards the need for more affordable housing in the district.

Concerns have been raised by the local parish council about whether the development will have enough parking, but Ryedale District Council planning officers have recommended Ambleside’s proposals – for approval when the authority’s planning committee meets next Tuesday.

A report by Rachel Smith, the council’s case officer for the scheme, said meetings had been held with the applicants to ensure the houses would “maintain and enhance the character” of the village, as they would be built in a “prominent” and “visible” position on the A170 approach to Nawton.
