Royal honour for Scarborough and Ryedale Mountain Rescue Team

Roger Hartley, chairman, receives the award on behalf of Scarborough and Ryedale Mountain Rescue Team from Lord Crathorne
Scarborough and Ryedale Mountain Rescue Team has been presented with the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service.
The award was presented to chairman Roger Hartley by Lord Crathorne at the team’s headquarters in Snainton.
The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service is the highest award given to volunteer groups across the UK for outstanding work done in their local communities.
Members of the team with more than five years service in mountain rescue were also presented with Diamond Jubilee Medals.
Lord Crathorne, who is honorary president of two North Yorkshire rescue teams, praised the support team members receive from their families as well as the dedication shown by the team members themselves.
Following the presentation Lord Crathorne was given a tour of the team’s headquarters and vehicles and met members of the team and their families.
