AN 80-year-old man who was airlifted to hospital following a two-car crash near Malton remains in hospital in a critical but stable condition.
The man, believed to be from York, was driving a white Isuzu Piazza on the A64 close to Whitwell-on-the Hill when the accident happened at about 12.25pm on Wednesday. The accident also involved a red Nissan Qashqai near the turn-off for Kirkham Abbey.
The woman driver of the Nissan was treated at the scene by paramedics but did not require hospital attention. The road was closed for several hours after the smash, and caused long tailbacks.
