A RYEDALE man whose family have been affected by cancer is to tackle a 25-mile run to raise money to help fight the disease.
Jed Perry will be at Norton College on Friday with supporters and sponsors from 9am before setting off at 10am.
He plans to run to Scarborough Railway Station to raise money for Cancer Research UK.
He hopes to complete his effort in four to five hours and will be running alongside his friend Ben Lawson who will be cycling the route to provide Jed with drinks and water.
Norton -based Jed said: “The reason I am doing this is that lots of my family have been affected because of cancer and I would like to show my support to my family and other families who are in the same situation.
“I hope to raise £500 for cancer research so that they can continue with their work.”
He added he hoped there would be spectators to encourage him on his way plus sponsors and donations.
“I have told my boss about my plan to run and he is going to help me by throwing a fundraising evening on September 10 at the Pott ‘In’ Shed café bistro in Chancery Lane, Malton ,” he said.
This will be from 7pm–10pm and tickets will cost £15 which includes a buffet and live music preformed by local artist Rhiannon Winters.
Jed said that £10 from each ticket will be given to the charity as well as the fundraising money. There will also be a raffle.
