Delight at jockey rehabilitation centre news

Malton Town Council has welcomed news that the Jack Berry Jockey Rehabilitation Centre is to go ahead in the town.

The mayor, Coun Jason Fitzgerald-Smith, said he had spoken to Mr Berry at the recent York Race meeting. Mr Berry was delighted with the response from the Malton area, and added that the new centre will be named after Mr Berry and provided by the Injured Jockeys Fund.

“It will be very much a functional home for jockeys,” said Coun Fitzgerald-Smith.

He added that it is due to be built close to Malton and Norton Rugby Club near a possible archaeological site, but Mr Berry was aware of that situation.
