Whitby crash witness plea

POLICE have appealed for witnesses after several people were injured in a North Yorkshire crash.

The driver of a Nissan Quashqui, which was heading towards Whitby on the A171 at about 7.30pm on Saturday, was forced to swerve by a blue Vauxhall Astra.

The evasive action led to the Nissan colliding with a black Vauxhall Zafira carrying seven people, which overturned.

The Astra failed to stop. A 19-year-old woman who was in the Zafira suffered a fractured leg.

Its driver and two other passengers, as well as the Quashqui’s driver and passenger, suffered minor injuries.

Anybody with information should phone North Yorkshire Police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
