Drilling for coastal defences scheme at Scarborough

A COASTAL protection scheme at Scarborough will involve drilling boreholes up to 40 metres deep.

Engineers from Scarborough Borough Council will carry out the work at South Cliff Gardens and on the promenade in front of the town’s spa.

Monitoring equipment will be installed and soil and rock samples will be taken.

Coun Mike Cockerill said: “Although there is some existing information available as a result of previous works and ongoing monitoring, more information is needed.”
