North Yorkshire County Council looks to increase use of social media

COUNCIL officials in North Yorkshire may be asked to tweet about their work lives as part of a drive to increase the use of social media.

North Yorkshire County Council is considering using Twitter and Facebook to promote the authority’s activities. One idea is for officers in “hands-on” roles, such as trading standards staff, to regularly tweet about their “work and experiences”.

A report going before councillors this week suggested the council may also look at promoting public consultations through such sites and offer councillors training in social networking.
