St Catherine’s Hospice ball is cancelled
11:11am Wednesday 29th August 2012 in News
ORGANISERS have had to cancel a ball in support of St Catherine’s Hospice which was due to take place on Saturday.
Libby Butler, who has worked for more than three months and explored every opportunity to sell tickets, said The Bird of Paradise Ball, due to take place at The Feathers, Helmsley , has reluctantly had to be cancelled due to lack of ticket sales.
Restaurants, businesses and retailers in the area had showed enormous support for the ball by donating generous prizes for the tombola.
Libby said: “I would like to thank all those businesses for their generous donations which will now be used in a huge raffle in conjunction with the Feather’s Hotel in Helmsley.
“I am determined to raise much needed money for the hospice. Any losses currently incurred will be born by myself and all ticket sales will be fully refunded.”
The economic downturn is felt to be the reason behind low ticket sales and a sudden cancellation of a full table just two weeks prior to the event meant that a decision to cancel had to be made.
“With such low numbers the ball would not have been an enjoyable time for those attending so I had no choice but to cancel,” Libby added.
Tickets for the raffle will be on sale from Saturday.
