Pickering Station was the focus for a painting challenge day involving art enthusiasts from across Ryedale.

Organised by the Vale of Pickering Art Club, the event is held each summer as part of a series of outdoor painting days.

This year, the station was chosen as the subject matter with completed work reviewed and judged by Paul Taylor at the club’s evening meeting at Pickering Memorial Hall.

Publicity officer Diana Smith said the winning artwork was by Amanda Pickles.

“The challenge day is something the club organises for members each year who come from across the area,” she said.

Diana said the club meets on the second Thursday of the month at the Memorial Hall, 7pm-9pm. The club’s next event is an annual exhibition from Saturday, September 8 to Sunday, September 16, at the Memorial Hall.
