Ryedale man killed in East Yorkshire head-on crash

A MAN has been killed and another has been seriously injured in a head-on crash in East Yorkshire.

The accident happened at about 5.50pm yesterday as a blue Renault Megane driven by a 53-year-old man from Malton was travelling northbound on the A614 from Driffield towards Bridlington.

A silver Ford Focus C-Max, driven by a 44-year-old man from Bridlington, was heading in the opposite direction when they collided. The Renault driver died and the other driver was airlifted to Hull Royal Infirmary, where he is in a serious condition.

The stretch of road at Ruston Parva, near Driffield, was closed until nearly midnight as Humberside Police began its investigation.

Anybody who saw the collision should phone the force on 101 and refer to log number 563 of August 15.

The dead man has yet to be named by police.
