West Lutton fundraising drive for village fireworks display
1:49pm Wednesday 15th August 2012 in News
Thomas Gilson, eight, joins other villagers from West Lutton as they prepare for their cowboys and Indians event
That meant that along with local donations, the firework display could go ahead.
The group is now working to ensure that the event goes ahead in November with their main fundraising event taking place at The Three Tuns on Saturday.
A cowboys and Indians-themed family event will a feature barbecue, bouncy castle, family games and a Wild West bar during the day with a karaoke adding to the fun during the evening.
The day will start at 1pm and continue until closing time.
Charlotte Edwards, pub landlady and a member of the fundraising group, said it was great to see the community pull together to ensure that the Bonfire Night celebration went ahead.
“It would be such a shame for this community event to disappear,” she said.
“I am delighted that the pub is able to provide a venue for the fundraiser as the cowboy and Indian event will be a great fun day out in its own right and I hope we see many new faces join us.”A GROUP of residents have launched a fundraising drive to ensure their village fireworks display goes ahead.
West Lutton has held a Bonfire Night for more than 25 years.
However, after a withdrawal of funding the popular event was in danger of folding until a group of residents stepped in.
Last year they managed to raise more than £1,000 in just four weeks by holding an Hawaiian-themed family event at the village pub.
