Action plan for Eastfield area of Scarborough

AN action plan for one of the most deprived areas of North Yorkshire has been revealed.

Residents, councillors and private sector organisations have drawn up the blueprint for the Eastfield area of Scarborough , which is aimed at creating new housing, community facilities, education and transport links over the next 12 years.

The ward has been in the top ten per cent of the UK’s most deprived communities for more than a decade and 1,500 new homes are currently being built there.

Funding to enable the action plan to be carried out will now be sought, with Brian Simpson, chairman of Eastfield Parish Council, said it was “an important milestone” in the area’s history.
