New head teacher at Leavening Primary School

A Heworth assistant head teacher is set to take charge at a Ryedale primary school.
Sian Mitchell, currently assistant head of Heworth CE School in York, will take the helm at Leavening Primary in September.
The current Leavening head teacher, Melanie Mellor, is taking up a headship at a larger primary school in Redcar.
She said she had enjoyed working with the children at Leavening over the years.
She said: “We have between 70 and 100 pupils here aged three to 11 and I have to got to know them all over the years as well as parents and the local community. I am looking forward to my new job but I will miss all the children and their enthusiasm.”
