Plans for a retirement community in Pickering

PLANS for a proposed retirement community at Mickle Hill in Pickering will go on display as part of a public consultation on the scheme.

Methodist Homes (MHA) says it is looking to provide “housing for older people within a development that also has a wide range of social, health and well-being facilities”.

The scale of the proposed development is not known but The Press understands it is smaller than a previous suggestions put forward by MHA for the site a number of years ago.

The company said: “The idea is to create a community where older people can live full and active lives.”

The public exhibition will take place from 2pm to 7pm tomorrow, in Pickering Memorial hall. Visitors will be able to see plans for the scheme, fill in comment forms or register an interest in the development.

Any chance of building some homes that young people can afford? Pickering is rapidly becoming a 'retirement community' already.
