Malton bridge limit idea

TOWN councillors in Malton want to see weight restrictions imposed on the County and Railway Street bridges once the Brambling Fields junction improvement is complete.

Town clerk Mike Skehan said it would improve the quality of life for shoppers and residents by reducing the number of HGVs going through Malton and Norton, and it would be better for the structure of the bridges.

* The council has welcomed the £2,000 grant from Norton Town Council towards the cost of the consultant’s report on the future of the towns.

A good suggestion. Strict measures to restrict HGV access to the towns must be imposed if the Brambling Fields project is to be successful.
