New artists wanted for Ryedale Open Art Exhibition

THE organisers of the popular Ryedale Open Art Exhibition are on the look-out for new artists to take part in the 35th annual event which takes place at the Milton Rooms in Malton in July.

Yvette Turnbull, creative economy officer for Ryedale District Council, who organises the exhibition, said every year about 150 artists show work in all media.

“The best thing about this exhibition is the way it brings people together,” she said.

“We show professional artists’ work alongside children’s and we show the work of sculptors alongside watercolourists and metalwork alongside oil paintings.

“The exhibition transforms the Milton Rooms because Ryedale definitely isn’t short on talent.”

The organisers are keen to receive work from artists who haven’t taken part before, and anyone who lives, works or studies in Ryedale is welcome to submit work.

“The artists who submit every year are the lifeblood of the exhibition, but we also love meeting artists for the first time and it’s really exciting to receive their work” said Yvette.

“It’s especially nice to hang the work of artists who have never shown before, and for those who are new to the area it’s a great way to get involved.”

Artists who are interested in taking part need an application pack, which can be downloaded from www.ryedale.gov.uk, by emailing yvette.turnbull@ryedale.gov.uk or by phoning 01653 600666 ext 326 and leaving their name and address.
