Splash of colour at Castle Howard

The woodland garden in Ray Wood, Castle Howard The woodland garden in Ray Wood, Castle Howard

Katie Pryor walks her dog Tig through the grounds of Castle Howard, near York, where visitors are visiting the gardens to marvel at the range of colour displayed by the rhododendron and azalea collection.

The woodland garden, originally laid out by plantsman James Russell within Ray Wood, is now in the final stages of a three-year long restoration by the Castle Howard Arboretum Trust, which is opening up new pathways for visitors.

Access to Ray Wood is included in the admission ticket to Castle Howard.
