16 beaches given clean water awards

SIXTEEN North and East Yorkshire beaches have won recognition for their clean water after the Good Beach Guide 2012 was unveiled.
But the Marine Conservation Society, which runs the Guide, has warned against complacency as stricter criteria will come into force later this year.
The 16 are Runswick, Whitby, Sandsend, Scarborough North Bay, Robin Hood’s Bay, Cayton Bay, Filey, Reighton, Flamborough South Landing, Flamborough Danes Dyke, Bridlington North Beach, Wilsthorpe, Fraisthorpe, Skipsea, Tunstall and Withernsea.
