PLANS for a new supermarket in a Ryedale town are set to be unveiled next week.
LDP Planning wants to create the store on the site of the Vauxhall garage at the junction of the A170 and Piercy End, in Kirkbymoorside.
The firm says the scheme would fill a “shortfall” in the area’s retail sector. It has held talks with supermarkets which have shown an interest and have claimed it would be a “viable alternative” to a Tesco store proposed for a nearby site.
Local planning rules will only allow one of the schemes to go ahead and LDP is intending to submit a full planning application within weeks.
A consultation event will be held on Wednesday, between 10am and 5pm, in the first-floor classroom at Kirkbymoorside Library, in High Market Place.
