  Totally agree, this role should be paid properly or not at all. I'm pretty sure £1800 each for twelve days work could be found from the £75'000 quoted as the Commisioner's salary. Neil Irving, North Yorkshire County Council’s assistant director, policy and partnerships will be on about £300 per eight hour day for his silly over titled role, him asking people to work for nothing seems a little off on that basis.

  Why? Some of us would happily volunteer for such a role? I spend 4 times that amount unpaid work for NHW in NY and York. Not everything has to come down to getting paid, some people cae about their community and are willing to put the time and energy into it. There are thousands of people who do roles throughout the country voluntarily, just to help their community."
