AN argument over who should run the café and bike centre in a Ryedale beauty spot looks set to see the Forestry Commission at the centre of a judicial review in the High Court.

Purple Mountain, which has run the facilities at Dalby Forest for the past six years, is angry at the Forestry Commission over its recent awarding of the contract to run the cafe to Eurest, and the biking centre to Dalby-based Pace Cycles.

Vicky Griffin, director of Purple Mountain, has met Caroline Spelman, Secretary of State for the Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, to discuss the issue.

Purple Mountain, which has been given 28 days to wind up the operation in Dalby Forest, says it has now started initial proceedings in the High Court.
