More visitors are expected to descend on Roseberry Topping in North Yorkshire this weekend after it was placed in the top ten most romantic places in the world to propose.
The distinctively shaped hill near the village of Newton-under-Roseberry, was voted sixth in the poll beating the likes of St Lucia, Australia and Morocco, in The World Travel Awards’ list, inspired by the tradition of women proposing during a leap year.
Catriona McLees, head of promotion and tourism at North York Moors National Park Authority, said they had “definitely had an increase in calls and hits on the website” with people asking about Roseberry Topping since the list was announced.
“We are anticipating an influx of extra visitors this weekend,” she said.
