Homes plan for Hovingham and Kirkbymoorside

A LONDON-BASED property firm has earmarked a picture-postcard North Yorkshire village as the site for its “flagship” development in the region.

Yoo Capital is looking to build 24 “bespoke” homes through a scheme called The Pastures in Hovingham, as part of a collaboration with Leeds developer Trilandium Homes.

The companies are also planning to build 26 properties in a Kirkbymoorside development called The Orchard, with Trilandium saying there had been “strong early interest” in the projects, which will be launched over the next year as part of a wider venture across Yorkshire.

One look at Yoo Capital's website photos of their project in the Cotswolds should be great cause for alarm to Kirkbymoorside residents ! This particular Cotswolds project demonstrates to me a complete lack of comprehension of an appropriate design which enhances and not detracts from England's natural environment. Plonking what look like retro Danish 1950s structures like so many boxes along a lake's shore is , to my mind , despicable. The idea that this could occur in Kirkbymoorside makes me sick to my stomach and I hope that building regulations and local opposition will completely eliminate any possibility of this.
Even many of the worldwide projects that Yoo are building across the world have a decidedly outdated design concept.
Some people may find the UK's design control regulations stifling but I can tell you that , as an ex-pat living in the USA and returning to my homeland occasionally, I am very thankful that these controls are in place.
