THE volunteer team behind a project to transform a disused quarry and neglected wood into an outdoor activity area is looking for local support through a membership scheme.
The opening of Newbridge Park in Pickering has been postponed due to the recent cold weather.
But a scheme has already been launched by the Newbridge Park Group to find “groupies” – local residents who will receive a package of benefits and to help the volunteer group with the running costs of the site once it opens.
The opening weekend will include a special groupies-only day, and an open day to let people try the site before signing up.
Groupie memberships are available from Trailblazer Outdoors in Market Place. The opening date will be confirmed as soon as possible, once the weather improves and the ground has thawed. For the latest updates, see facebook.com/newbridgepark
