THE Rev Judy Duke, one of Ryedale’s busiest priests, has announced her retirement from the Benefice of Buckrose Carrs.
Her vast parish includes St Andrew’s East Heslerton, All Saints, West Heslerton, St Andrew’s Rillington, St Hilda’s Sherburn, St John the Baptist, Yedingham, St Edmund, Knapton, St Martin’s Scampston, All Saints, Thorpe Bassett and St Peter’s Wintringham.
She told her congregations: “It was not an easy decision, but I will be 65 in the summer. I do this with considerable regret as I have loved being the rector in the benefice and have been so grateful for the wonderful people who have helped me.”
Her last service will be on July 29 and in future she hopes to assist her successor.
